Find all the top Brisbane attractions in our complete Brisbane travel guide

As the main gateway to Queensland and the Gold Coast, Brisbane has something of a reputation as a fun place to visit, and certainly does little to disappoint the millions of visitors that it attracts each year with a mix of fun and sun.

Amongst the highlights of your Queensland holiday, the golden beaches and theme parks are perhaps the most immediately obvious, but there are many other more subtle attractions to enjoy too.

The Great Barrier Reef lies off the coast of Queensland, and is the largest natural reef anywhere in the world. It offers world class diving, and is a popular place to enjoy a cruise for a few days. There are numerous idyllic island resorts where visitors can stay, and larger hotels and cruise ships too.

Inland from the coast is the Queensland rainforest, where you can go trekking or stay in jungle lodges and re-enact scenes from "I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here" - the popular television show.
